Most planning applications in England require a 10% net gain in biodiversity, monitored for 30 years. The NAO found "no standardised, national approach to verifying or recording the verification of biodiversity gains." JoinEcoGrow holds photos, GPS, condition notes, sampling protocol, and reviewer status together as locked, versioned records — the evidence base BNG monitoring requires. It is not a BNG metric calculator and does not produce a statutory net-gain score.

BNG becomes mandatory for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects from 2 November 2026 under Schedule 15 of the Environment Act 2021. BSI Flex 702 v1.0 (October 2024) was released for adoption in March 2026 with Defra support. What is a Darwin Core Archive?

A Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A) is a ZIP file containing standardised biodiversity data files (event.txt, occurrence.txt, multimedia.txt) plus metadata (meta.xml, eml.xml). It is the international standard for sharing biodiversity data, used by GBIF and the global biodiversity informatics community. JoinEcoGrow exports approved records as DwC-A on request.

Who owns the data our team captures?

Your organisation. JoinEcoGrow processes the records your team creates and claims no ownership over your environmental records, photos, location data, or taxonomic identifications.

Does it replace our ecology consultant or arboriculturist?

No. JoinEcoGrow supports record-keeping and reviewer-friendly outputs. Statutory advice on BNG, planning conditions, BS 5837 categorisation and environmental reporting must continue to come from accredited professionals.

How does pricing work?
